Vegetables

Chiba Program (2 weeks program)

Term: 6/27 ? 7/7 2013 *14days
Place: Chiba-ken (Katori area)
Internship: Harvest summer vegetables
Schedule : Internship 5 days, 3 Free days
Requirement: 18 years or older. Healthy and interested in Japanese culture and able to help farm work Program
Price: USA $1,300 (Includes: accommodations with 3 meals, transportation (Narita airport⇔Hotel/Home stay and farm⇔Hotel/ Home stay),
3 field trips *tickets are included, Tokyo Tour and internship arrangement fee)

Daily Schedule

Day 1: To Japan! *Narita airport
Day 2: Arriving at Narita airport afternoon
Meet with program stuff at the airport
Welcome dinner with local friends
Day 3: Program orientation and a tour
AM: Learn about Japanese culture and Chiba’s history and industries
PM: Visit a Soy sauce factory
Day 4-5: Farm work
Day 6: Site seeing of Traditional Japan -Suigo Sawara Botanical Garden
*due to weather or construction it may change
Day 7: FREE
Day 8-10: Farm work and culture study Culture study includes field trip

Day 11: Tokyo field trip
Day 12-13: FREE
Last day: Back to the USA Shuttle to Narita airport will be provided by stuff member

Hokkaido Program (4 weeks program)

Place: Hokkaido, Biratori Town
Internship: Tomato Farm Family in the Town. This town is famous for Brand Tomato; A Sweet heart of Nishipa
Schedule : 5 days internship and 2 days off. Time schedule varies depends on family
Requirement: Must be able to work in farm. Healthy and interested in Japanese culture
Activity: Fire works, BBQ, Pizza making party, etc.

Where will this program take place?
In Hokkaido Island, located on the northern Japan. Hokkaido is famous for ramen noodle, hot spring, and fresh seafood
Where will participants intern at?
Hokkaido, Biratori Town, Furenai
What will participant will do at intern?
Help tomato harvest
Do I have to speak Japanese?
The college student in Hokkaido will also attend the program, and help you to communicate with participant
Will participant raid?
This is a non-paying program, however, in exchange or working 5 days/week the host company will support applicant’s housing, 3 meals/work day and will arrange cultural activities.
How long is this program?
The program will be 28 days on July, 2013. The busiest season for tomato farms, and you will be helping them to harvest
Will applicants have time off to enjoy their surroundings?
Yes. The internship is 5 days a week. On your day off, you can see around the city, enjoy good food, or anything you want do discover in Japan!

AIR has two ling-term educational courses for foreign students: a 2-year course starting in April and a 1.5-year course starting in October; as well as short term/Intensive course for the students wishing to try learning the Japanese language and the Japanese culture or study Japanese intensively for a short period. In addition, after completion of studies, we individually counsel the students wishing to move onto a long-term course. We welcome any students who want to improve their Japanese skills during their vacation or get to know Japanese culture better. The students can have the chance to join in a series of seasonal events and experience Japanese culture first hand during the course.

Where will this program take place?
Niigata, Japan. Niigata has an estimated population of 810,000 people. It has a highly developed transportation network for domestic routes. The bullet train for instance, takes only 1.5 hours to reach Tokyo.
Where will participants study at?
Hokkaido, Biratori Town, Furenai
What will participant will do at intern?
The host school is “AIR”, College of foreign languages, tourism and airline. They have over 20 different classes including Japanese anime and the manga classes.
How long is this program?
Participants can choose from a short term (2 weeks) up to long terms(1.5 year or 2 years.) We recommend participants should take a short term first and if they like the school, they can come back as long term students.
How much is the cost?
It depends how many classes the participants should take. Pleas ask for us.
Where does participants live in?
The school introduces a place to live for participants. Please let us know if you need one in advance.
